Shannon Baker is Carrier Dene of the Stellat'en First Nation reservation in northern British Columbia. She has an identical twin sister named Shauna. She resides in Los Angeles, California. Her and her twin sister are collectively known as 'The Baker Twins'. As an actor, model, and spokesperson Shannon Baker has been featured on a variety of television shows, films, commercials, workshops and videos.
In the tradition of the Carrier Dene people, an elder from Shannon's reservation put warm beehive into the palms of her hands when she was a baby. This act is meant to nurture strong artistic abilities.
As long as she could remember she was always performing; From singing "I'm a little tea pot" while dancing in front of a wedding reception at the age of three, to competing in classical music competitions at the age of 16. Her love for the arts quickly took hold and evolved.
Shannon's enjoyment for performing took on various forms while growing up. Music has always been a part of her life, whether she was competing, creating or just listening to it. She participated in school choirs, plays and bands. She also learned how to play a variety of instruments such as the saxophone, flute, clarinet, piccolo and most recently the guitar.
Before the start of Shannon's entertainment career she studied Business Management. While going to school she held a variety of management positions such as Project Manager and Research Assistant at Simon Fraser University, this allowed her to finance her own education. Shannon eventually ended up competing in the Miss Universe Canada pageant where she was the winner of the Revlon Award.
Shannon's introduction to modeling occurred while she was shopping and was approached by a modeling scout. Shannon and her sister knew about scams in the modeling industry and did not take the first offer. Soon after these encounters they began managing their own modeling careers. She has been featured in print, editorials, advertisements and several runway shows. Shannon has guest starred on the Spike television show 'Blue Mountain State' as well as the CW television show 'Smallville' and the sci-fi television movie series 'Tin Man'. She has also worked on feature films 'Battle-B-boy', 'Hopelessly in June', 'Dominant Gene' and 'Sharp as Marbles'. In addition, Shannon has also been a lead in the television show 'Tales of an Urban Indian'. Her acting credits also include, 'An American Night', 'Worth 1000 Words', 'Estelle', 'Dreamcatcher', and 'Family Portraits'.
